Hi, I’m James. I am a 32 year old high school English teacher who reads and writes in his spare time. I was born in Joliet, Illinois, raised in Plymouth, Indiana, and now reside in Fort Wayne with my wife and our miniature daschund, Alter Ego.
Ever since I was a child, I have loved books. I grew up with the Boxcar Children, Indian in the Cupboard, and Encyclopedia Brown. The book that drew me into the fantastic world of literature was Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Today, I read books by John Green, Christopher Moore, Stephanie Perkins, Erin Morgenstern, Stephen King, and many more.
From my love of reading stemmed my passion for writing. In October 2015, my wife and I attended the first ever NerdCon: Stories in Minneapolis. It was there that I met Mary Robinette Kowal (listen to her, Brandon Sanderson, Dan Wells, and Howard Tayler discuss writing at writingexcuses.com). After that, I wrote most of a novel for NanoWrimo and finished it the following Spring. I now have one completed manuscript and one in progress.
